Fascinated by plant diversity and remote wild places, I went on expedition with the Royal Botanic Gardens to Central America, Belize to train and conduct fieldwork.
I participated in an expedition to Belize to be trained by experts at the Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh. The training programme supported by NERC brought together a range of researchers to learn how to identify tropical plants in the field using morphological features and other life history characteristics.
During the course of the expedition we collected 100s of plant specimens to be transported back to herbaria UK. In order to support local institutions, voucher specimens were retained in country.
